to consider us.
This was my first experience with any type of Auction - and I must say everyone at Mackley & Company was wonderful. I don't know when I have ever been around a special group of people like the staff you have there - very knowledge, friendly and very helpful - not once did I feel intimidated. Thanks again for making this such an enjoyable experience.

There's alot of talk about Mackley on UT's campus! ...I
just wanted to thank you for your time with the guys from
campus crusade who bought rings or started looking. You
all have really made it fun for them and ministered to
them in the process. I think they are selling you guys
to their friends. I'm glad that finally some of the people
I tried to send your way worked out. Also, I think another
guy may come see you. He's looking to buy in a month or
so. I told him Mackley's the only way to go : )
Thanks for what you all do and how it is a ministry to
young men and women! I pray that the Lord would really
bless you and your families.

Our entire family is enthusiastic to highly recommend
Mackley & Co. to everyone interested in owning lovely
jewelry, jems, metals, and watches whether modest or extravagant,
because we have come to know Joe, Darrell, and Suzanne
as extraordinarily honest, trustworthy, reliable, with
great taste, and great fun to work with. The extensive
Mackley & Co. inventory is gorgeous and a league above
mere jewelry stores, yet highly competitive price-wise.
We also have been making purchases from and have introduced
others to the Mackley Auction as well for years and look
forward to each one as you never know what unique spendors
you will find and what values you can achieve. You can
trust them completely to handle your bidding increments
(or sell your precious pieces). Also, We have had many
pieces appraised by Joe, a master gemologist, who you
can rely on to give you accurate descriptions and insurance
replacement values presented in impressive, professional,
pictorial booklet form (not a sheet of paper) at an extremly
reasonable rate. Lastly, the Mackleys have come through
when we were looking for special gems or pieces. The latest
were a particular replacement opal and an engagement setting.
Not only did Darrell have on hand just the right matching
diamond to complete a three-piece design with heirloom
diamonds, he discovered the setting of her dreams my daughter
described who had searched literally everywhere (including
on line), AND at a really, really competitive price. She's
thrilled at the stunning result and everyone asks where
she got such a ring. It is a pleasure to recommend Mackley
& Co., a vendor which has provided years of exceptional
service and value.

I received a check from the January auction. Thank you
very much again for your time and kind help. Your auction
is simply amazing. The most effective, safest, sophisticated,
and the very best way to advertise and sell your jewelry.
Keiko S, Hawaii
Thank you Joe. You know, since I "met" you all
those years ago just coming cross your monthly online
auction, I've had so much fun buying the very nice items
you have had for sale. You have given me advice, you have
done things to help me out, you have gone the extra mile
to insure that I was happy, and all this on top of quality,
never-misrepresented items. Of course you know that I
appreciate this beyond compare, but I just thought I'd
put it in black and white again.

A couple of months ago, we traveled from Indianapolis
to visit your facility. We had a suitcase full of odds
and ends in hand, but no idea what to do with them. We
also had a mysterious bracelet that no one seemed to know
anything about. Traveling to TN was pretty much our final
hope of figuring out what we were going to do with this
unidentified "junk".
Upon entering, all of you immediately made us feel at
home. The openness and kindness you offered from the beginning
was amazing. In the end, I think we utilized almost all
of your services... an appraisal, a repair, purchases
from your in-store stock, purchases from your catalogs,
and giving you many items to auction on commission. I
honestly feel the trip was well worth it! Everything went
beautifully, the repair and appraisal were fantastic,
the new items we purchased were spectacular, and the items
you auctioned for us were a complete success!
When we left your store, you commented that we could consider
all of you as our friends in Tennessee... and we do!
I just wanted to take the time to thank you for the wonderful
experience. I thoroughly enjoyed sitting for those hours
just chatting about the different odds and ends we brought
with us. Your hospitality, patience, generosity, and knowledge
all come together to create a fantastic experience that
still puts a smile on my face when I think about it. I
am so glad to have met all of you!
Thank you again and God bless!

I’m afraid there’s been a mistake. I didn’t
buy the Hope Diamond but that seems to be what I was sent.
Honestly, holy crow, I scared myself when I opened that
box yesterday. I can tell you truthfully that no one in
my family, on either side, has every owned anything like
this. I do have an aunt who went to Zales and bought herself
a pair of diamond stud earrings. I think they were about
1.5 ct. TW or something like that, and we were all in
awe. Until now, those have been the “big stones”
in the family. My parents are coming from Wisconsin to
see the grandkids (my brother’s kids and my niece
and nephew) next weekend, and sure, since I live here
too, me as well, and I was looking forward to showing
this to my mom, but now I’m a little unsure. She’s
never going to believe I spent only $---- for a diamond
like this. She’s going to think I took out a second
mortgage on the house. Living in Washington, I see all
kinds of ladies sporting big diamonds, but this one !
looks just huge to me – much bigger than 1.3 ct.
part of it, I’m sure, is the way it’s set,
with it’s “bulls-eye, here it is!” concentric
surrounding. Part of it may be the “spread”
of the stone – it’s cut wide instead of deep?
And part of it may be that it’s mine? But if this
is a K-I1, I can’t even begin to imagine what a
“flawless” stone must look like. I am not
getting much work done. I keep getting distracted by the
sparkle. I woke up twice last night and saw it there on
my nightstand, I just thought, no way, this can’t
be mine. Meanwhile, I am delighted by the appraisal. I
have never seen a formal, professional appraisal before,
so I didn’t know what to expect, but I certainly
was not expecting a 10-page, full-color report in duplicate!
This is the kind of ring that I see movie stars wearing
at awards shows in photos carried by magazines like In
Style and Vogue, and it’s an antique, so the demand
will never go away. So I know that you could have held
on to a ring this gorgeous and sold it for its full value
at your retail store. But instead you put it up for sale
at an auction and gave someone like me the opportunity
to own a piece of history that they otherwise would never,
ever have had the chance to enjoy and make into their
own family heirloom. Building customer loyalty one sale
at a time, over months and years instead of going for
that quick one-time profit - That is the Mackley way in
a nutshell! Thanks as always from a loyal customer of
more than eight years now.

Here is a press release
and article published about us from the Knoxville News-Sentinel,
May 19, 2005.
As always, thank you for such interesting items and such
an interesting auction. I always have fun bidding and
winning or losing items with your auction.
DonnaD-California
I'm looking over the items 'last minute' and while reading
item #7's description,
if I may quote you, you say, "Chain is free. (don't
bid too much for the chain).
The case is the important part." That alone shows
just how trustworthy
of a merchant you are - that you so honest to mention
those things when there
are so many people who wouldn't. It is exactly the reason
I love your
auctions and your company. I just wish my budget could
allow me to buy
everything I wanted! Thanks and good luck on the auction
as it ends. Time
to start looking at the rest of your items now!
LynetteK-Lousiana
I had wanted to just mention to you that the other day
when I went to the jeweler and had that sapphire ring
done among other things, the jeweler asked me where I
got it. I told him that I had someone I work with in Tennessee
and he asked me why I did not use him or the local jewelers
to buy and sell? And I simply told him that over the last
several years, I had not found anyone who even approached
the level of trust and confidence I had in you! He said,
"well if I ever want to consign my items through
him he would love to hvae them!. I told him, NO WAY!
SusanP-Colorado
Dear Joe, Once again, you have made a customer very happy!
I got my little purchase last night, and I am more pleased
with it than just about anything I've ever bought from
you.
For the past few months, I have been sort of obsessed
with getting some vintage/antique coral beads to make
into a necklace. Why? In the Middle East, as I learned
in Iraq last year, coral is believed to protect against
violent death and accidents. Ever since I found that out,
I've wanted to make sure the next time I go, I'm wearing
a small coral necklace. I know, that sounds nuts, but
in those kinds of places, you take your comfort where
you can find it. But, being me, I don't just want some
junky dyed coral, which I think is ugly. Oh nooooo, I
want <real> coral, the vivid read-orange stuff that
was over harvested in the turn of the century, and is
now so prized it's sold by the carat, like gemstones.
I was pretty horrified when I found out the prices. But
I was determined, so I plugged along. When I saw the stuff
in your auction, I thought hmmm. Could that possibly be
real? And if it is, would there be enough beads to string
into a choker?
So to make a long story a bit less long, here I sit in
my beautiful little vintage coral necklace. It's exactly,
precisely what I wanted. If I end up back in Iraq, it
will be a great pyschological comfort. I am a very happy
camper.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: Mackley and Co.
is the kind of business a lot of people think doesn't
exist anymore -- one that cares more about repeat customers
than the short haul. And that's why I'll keep coming back.
All the best.
LisaB-Virginia
I purchased a few small items in your last auction - including
a watch chain with slide. I just received the package
and I am thrilled! For many years I wore my grandmothers
slide on a necklace - but sadly it was lost. The slide
I purchased is nearly identical to my grandmothers! I'll
be sure to watch for future auction to see what other
treasures I can find!
SusanD-Virginia
Dear Joe I received my auction items on Friday afternoon
- and was delighted by them!!! - they will make up part
of a Birthday present for my mom and a high school graduation
present for my goddaughter - It was a real pleasure doing
business with you and your family and I thank you again
for all of your courtesies. Cordially

Dear Darryl, I want to sincerely thank you, your father
and all of the employees of Mackley & Company. For
the last several years, I had been pondering how to sell
the loose diamonds and other stones I have accumulated
over the years. I consider myself very lucky to have found
your web site. After talking to you on the phone, I felt
very comfortable in mailing the stones to you in Knoxville.
As you know, Mackley & Company just sent me a check
for the final stones sold. This has been a pleasant experience
for me in all aspects. Your knowledge, courtesy and professionalism
are most appreciated. Darryl, again, thank you for the
truly excellent job.

Hi Joe, you made my day....thanks for all the help, I
have really enjoyed your auctions, just keep me posted
and on your buyers lot and I will help out as much as
possible on moving some items, in the near future. I know
I am not your only buyer but every little bit helps outs
and I have found a new place where I can find those little
treasures! Thank you for your kindness & fast shipping....I
love it!
GingerF-Lousiana
Got It! The check that is. I want to thank you again for
your honesty and understanding in helping find the fastest
and best way to liquidate these assets. I know that if
the situation arises that I might need your expertise,
I will call you again. Thank you and may God continue
to bless you and your family.
CyndiS-Tennessee
I always appreciate getting your reminders and e-mails
- keep 'em coming! -) And I also love to read the little
comments you put next to some of your items - it shows
your humor and makes you seem more like a "regular"
human being than an impersonal "company". -)
Take care!
LynetteK-Lousiana
Received ring Friday, it is beautiful - the setting is
quite unique - took it to a jeweler to have it sized and
he said ring would retail $250.00 or more - so thank you
once again.
ElaineH-Illinois
I received the earrings yesterday. They're beautiful.
Showed them around work. I'll probably regret giving out
your website address to so many people!! Should see some
new hits and registrations really soon! Thanks again,
GailM-New York
Just a short note to thank you again for your generous
donations to the HELP SAVE THE BABY ONLINE AUCTION to
benefit the open-heart surgery for the Sneesby baby in
Australia. Your jewelry donations brought enough money
to pay living expenses for the family of four for a week!
Thank you so very much.
Uh... Joe, now that I read what I wrote, it sounds like
it brought a small fortune, huh
I guess I should have mentioned (and you can add it to
the testimonial if you'd like) that one of my writing
pals negotiated arrangements so the Sneesby's will be
living at Hubble House, an organization for families of
children with severe health problems, near the hospital
in Orlando, FL, at a cost of $25 per day for the entire
family.
They will have to be there for nine months, but we were
able to give them a good start. But mostly, they saw that
there are still people around the world who care, it's
just that, sometimes, they need someone to take the ball
and run with it.
Although I'm glad we were able to raise well over $5,000
for the Sneesby's, I am exhausted! Running an online auction
manually was totally overwhelming. As soon as I'd get
the new items and latest bids posted, there would be another
flood of e-mails from all over the world. Whew, I don't
see how you guys do it full-time. Ally Rose was like an
angel of mercy had come to visit when she offered her
services to automate the auction as her part of the benefit.
As boring as engineering is, and I DO mean boring, I think
I'll stick to
writing procedures. And my novel, of course. :-)
JanieF-Tennessee
I was able to pick up the big package yesterday, and everything
looks outstanding. Thank you very much for your all of
your help; I certainly did do the right thing by following
Chris and Paula's advice. You delivered a superior product
at a price that was more than fair, and you took the time
to educate me about the process and make sure that I was
completely comfortable with this very important purchase.
Many thanks for all of your help. I look forward to steering
others your way, and to meeting with you again in the
future. Have an outstanding day. I look forward to speaking
with you again.

After over 4 years of doing business with Mackley and
Company I thought it is about time I told you how I feel
about your auctions and items that I have purchased from
you. WONDERFUL!!!, GREAT SERVICE!!!, HONEST!!!, FRIENDLY
and just really nice people. You definitely have a very
loyal customer here. Sincerely,
MaryW-Alabama
I had the pleasure of being the winning bidder on an 18
inch 14k herringbone necklace in last month's auction.
I was a bit concerned about the condition of the necklace
when I bid on it and won the auction - I got it for such
a low price (less than $4.00/gm). I was delighted to receive
a necklace that appeared to be brand new - it could not
have been worn very often, if at all. I am sold. I will
be back at the October auction and all of your future
auctions.
LindaK-Pennsylvania
I have received appraisal reports and the jewelry items
as of today. Thank you very much for your highly professional
work on my items this time (even you kindly provided me
an extra copy for each item)--as far as appraisal concerned,
one-page report is very common, not several pages! So
thorough. I thank you so much again for your time and
great work ethics.
Sincerely & Aloha,
KeikoS-Hawaii
Well Joe sometimes I think there is more to this "meant-to-be"
stuff than we know! As you may or may not be aware, I
have not been a pearl lover, so when I lost the tourmaline
to trade for, I was only going to take a look at the spice
pearls because I did not like the rubellite stone and
they did look interesting......When I opened the package,
I could not take my eyes off of them! Not only did I fall
in love with them instantly, but they made me understand
why I have never liked pearls before! Normal pearls, cultured
or real, are just too perfect -- round, white, you know
-- BORING!! These pearls are in a word - stunning! They
are so baroque and so colorful and shiny that they just
exude class! And the pin is equally as lovely, in a more
kind of Victorian way. The pearls in the pin are really
beautiful! So as you might surmise, I AM A HAPPY CAMPER!!!
I would have bought these from you in a heartbeat -- I
do not really care what their value is! Thank you immensely
for offering them to me! Now, the other items are worthy
of a comment as well -- especially the lapis ring. I almost
passed this one up, but it has turned out to be my favorite
of the lot! The style reminds me of Art Nouveau -- do
you know anything about this one? And the flower ring
seems to really be a superb quality ring! And the little
coral ring is very very cute! So once again you have outdone
yourself in my book! I will never be able to thank you
enough for the pearls Joe! They have really heightened
my appreciation of nature's work! And I think the baroque
quality is the best part after the lovely colors! Thanks
ever so much again, you dear man!!
SusanP-Colorado
Hello Joe, First off, thank you very much for your prompt
and courteous response. I can tell your company is world-class
just from this brief experience. I would certainly recommend
you to anyone looking to liquidate high-end items. Secondly,
no, I am not the least bit offended by your evaluation.
I had a gut feeling those rings weren't of the quality
anything near what I was told. I'm not much of a jewelry
person (though I love diamonds of "F" or better);
I only wear my wedding ring and diamond stud earrings
most days. Anyway, I was clearing out my jewelry box of
items I don't wear and just thought I'd see if those rings
were worth anything. I appreciate your candor.
KathyS-Illinois
Dear Mr. Mackley, I thought I would take time to write
you a note and let you know just how very pleased I am
with my latest purchases in your auction. I have been
your auction patron for 2 years and have never been unhappy
with my items. In fact, in general I would say the things
on auction are even better than represented and never
ever a disappointment. Your honesty in representation
and willingness to answer questions are a big reason why
I keep bidding with you.
Once again, thanks for your integrity. I hope you can
use my experiences with you to give others an idea of
how safe and wonderfully pleasing it is to bid in your
auctions.
Very Sincerely,
SusanP-Colorado
Joe: My first purchase on the Internet was from you. Knowing
the phrase "buyer beware" I was prepared to
receive an average item of jewelry. When I received the
item in the mail I was astounded at the quality of it,
not to mention the service I received from your company.
Thank you. I sent a testimonial to you then because I
wanted everyone to know the quality of your merchandise
and to tell everyone that here is a trusted seller. Many
moons and several purchases later I am still saying the
same thing - here is a trusted seller. I just received
the estate item purchased at your most recent auction
and all I can say now is....look out eBay.Thanks again,
PatS-Indiana
Joe, I just got my stuff and I am very very pleased. Over
this last year, I have really come to trust the quality
of your things and the integrity you have, if I ask you
a question, I know you will be straight with me. Thank
you so very much!
Susan P - Colorado
I just want the world to know how impressive all my jewelry
was that I purchased. I was ecstatic! I don't know if
I will ever visit another jewelry store again - unless
its to compare my wonderful pieces to their overpriced
pieces! THANKS JOE!!
Tracey C - Pennsylvania
I had to tell you how much I LOVE my auction jewelry!!!!
I picked it up at the Post Office on Saturday afternoon,
and it's everything I hoped for, and more, as usual. The
emerald is really clear and the color is gorgeous. I plan
to have it made into a ring, just as I did the last one.
I really liked the SS-plated napkin rings, too. I wish
I could think of a way to use them/display them when I'm
not using them for dinner. Too bad they're too small to
flatten out as cuff bracelets! Wouldn't that be spectacular.
I was really impressed by the two 18kt. gold necklaces
I got. The turquoise one, especially, is a stunner. I
also really liked the $100 "junk" 1 ct. diamond
tennis bracelets I got. I went to the mall and compared
them with Zales and their Memorial Day "sale"
1 ct. bracelets at $300 (normally $500) were much flimsier.
I originally planned to just take the diamonds out and
use in making other jewelry, such as the emerald ring,
but they're so much nicer than I thought that I've decided
to instead I'm going to get the missing diamonds replaced
They'll probably "live" permantly around my
wrist, as will the plain signet rings on my hands! I can't
wait to show the jeweler here my latest acquisitions and
see him go green with envy! I must say that my "stock
in trade" has gone up considerably with them - they
seem to assume I am a savvy jewelry buyer masquerading
as a normal customer. But I know the secret: I'M A LOYAL
MACKLEY JUNKIE!!
Lisa B - Virginia
Thank you for your notice on putting the ad for my sapphire
ring. Yes, I checked it immediately and was very much
impressed with the quality of the ad. I am so glad that
you clarified every single detail of the ring from the
stone weight, the color/quality of set diamonds to even
the "heavy," quality shank. The ad is so well
said that I do not have anything to add/change. I am so
sure that I don't have to tell anything more about the
ring to my potential buyer. Thank you for even putting
your nice personal comment on the ring--that was so kind
of you. I'm more than 100% satisfied with the ad and am
grateful for your professional work.
Keiko S. - Hawaii
I have been very fortunate in my experiences in the antiques
industry. Meeting Joe & Suzanne Mackley has enriched
those experiences. I have attended several of the Regular
Estate Jewelry Auctions and have been extremely pleased
with all my sales and purchases. I have sold many of the
items that I have bought from the Mackley auctions and
have realized five and six times the price that I paid.
However, some of the items I've bought are far too precious
for me to part with.
Fortunately, I live only 40 miles from Knoxville so it
is convenient for me to preview the jewelry before the
auction. But, during the current silent auction, I probably
won't be able to preview. However, I am absolutely positive
that the jewelry is much more appealing than is portrayed
on the web. It always is! A picture might tell a thousand
words, but seeing a seven (7) carat diamond ring on your
own hand is breath-taking! (I didn't bid on the ring,
but I was thrilled to wear it for five minutes.)
The auction conducted by Mackley & Company is a very
well kept secret among antique jewelry dealers, but I
can't help but tell everyone about it. I consider Joe
and Suzanne to be extremely reputable, honest, and considerate.
But more than that, I consider them my friends.
Janie F - Tennessee
I want to thank you and your staff for the quick response
to all my questions during your Silent Auction. Being
a "first time buyer" in cyber world, needless
to say, I was a real Nervous Nelly. I have already received
the beautiful broach I purchased and it was more gorgeous
than I ever expected. My jeweler appraised it for six
times the auction price, and I am sorry I did not bid
higher on a few other items. I won't make that mistake
again. I look forward to your next Silent Auction.
Pat S. - Indiana
My Dear Friends, we would like to express our gratitude
to you as a company and as a group of outstanding people.
It is not very often that I sit to write a note such as
this, but to find a company like Mackley & Co. is
a rare find and I am compelled to comment. In the trade,
we travel regularly to 16 States and have visited many
a business. I must admit that your offices are equipped
with the best and latest of gemological testing equipment
that we have come across. But, what is most important
is your ability to make the right judgment calls on a
variety of things. In today’s world it is refreshing
to see the honesty and ethical standards that seem to
be the daily fare with your group. Should you ever need
any business references, please do not hesitate to list
our company as one of your very happy clients. Sincerely,
Bear W. - Missouri
Five years ago, when I had the need to liquidate precious
jewelry items from an estate, I found Mackley & Company.
Little did I know, at the time, the jewelry was precious
only to my family and no one else. But what stays with
my is the way Joe Mackley let me know the value. He was
so very kind. I have been doing business with the Mackleys
ever since! I cannot give a higher recommendation than
to say I tell everyone who will listen that Mackley &
Company has consistently offered service of quality and
integrity. You will never do business with anyone more
honest or committed to their word. If anyone needs an
appraisal, or to sell or buy gems or jewelry, Mackley
& Company is the only answer.
TheaVH. - Pennsylvania
It has been close to three years since I first discovered
Joe Mackley's on line auction. I had never purchased anything
over the Internet, especially jewelry that I couldn't
hold and examine. Joe told me at the time he would never
let me down and I can honestly say he never has. The jewelry
I've been luck enough to bid and get through the three
types of auctions Joe has run, On-line, Silent and Regular,
has been beautiful and there were no surprises from the
way they looked on-line. The bonus from this on-line contact
is that I have made a friend over the Internet. One that
I trust, one with outstanding credentials and knowledge,
one that I can send my jewelry for sale and know that
I will get an honest appraisal, and one that I know has
integrity and a warmth of spirit I value. I cannot recommend
doing business with Mackley & Co. highly enough, it
has been a wonderful experience for me.
Cheryl D. - Massachusetts
I have told people about how honest you have been with
me and how I trust you totally.
JillB - Tennessee
I have purchased from Mackley & Company for a number
of years now, through their website only, at silent and
regular auctions, and have found my purchases to be a
wonderful combination of excellent prices and high quality.
I've asked for, and received, consistently good advice
over their jewelry as well as from other sources- always
an honest- and prompt response. It's one of the few websites
that has never disappointed and I always come back to.
Wish I could meet the family.
SueS - Holland
The integrity I have encountered
and the quality of the appraisals I have received cannot
be easily found and has made me a life long customer of
Mackley & Company.
