Mackley and Company is a family business founded in 1980 by Joe Mackley. This start was with a desk, a chair, a telephone and a few dollars to purchase a gem microscope.

Joe's upbringing became the focus of Mackley & Company from Mackley family tradition. Joe's mother was the backbone of the family for teaching values and made sure those values became part of him. Joe's Dad (his middle name is Jewell) taught him that anything worthwhile was worth doing well. Both parents taught by example. The future of Mackley & Company as jewelers and gemologists is having those same values in place as they continue to function everyday.

This initial business emphasis was for jewelry appraisal services, shortly later the addition of the importation of East African gem rough for lapidary and marketing to the retail trade. Later the addition of Suzanne (Joe's wife) and Darryl (son) brought about additions into the marketing of estate jewelry and then a retail business of their own. Suzanne insists she is not the 'secretary' but she is a partner/office manager. She has been the one to do those multitude of 'time consuming' details and tasks' that are so important and part of the everyday duties of a business. Darryl, is the president of Mackley & Company. He too brought those initial values coupled with the Golden Rule and these have become the foundation of this business. New employee Cathy Honken has brought us new insight with a smile.

This is where we take our gemological knowledge (two gemologists) and blend this with good business ethics to give you personalized service in gemstone and jewelry sales, design-repairs, appraisals and liquidation. Our goal is to provide you the customer/client with better value and quality and hopefully for a lesser outlay of funds than they are likely to find in other venues using correct gemological grading.
