The Art of Appraisal (Here are Frequently Asked Questions)
We offer you an advantage:
Our certified gemological laboratory accompanied by
accredited and renown gemologists and appraisers allow
you the comfort of knowing you have come to the right
source. Joseph Mackley has the experience of providing
gem identification and appraisals in gems and jewelry
since 1975. Darryl Mackley has the experience
in gem identification and working with customers regarding
their need of appraisal. Hands-on experiences can be provided by appointment (865-693-3097) in the client's presence. Our appraisal fee is based on time (not a percent of the value or a per piece basis). Our suggestions for your consideration of professional appraisals from members with advanced education and accredation from professional appraisal associations are: the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA); the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) and the International Society of Appraisers (ISA). If you do not know value, know the trained, educated and accredited gemologist appraiser that provides that value.
What are Mackley & Company's credentials as gemologists
and appraiser of gems and jewelry? Our master of gemology and appraising have the highest credentials to offer. However, there is no licensing or certification requirement in any state of the USA for gems and jewelry. One should expect formal training in both of these fields before practicing gemology or being an appraiser of gems and jewelry. Before one can appraise one must be able to identify and know how to use the gemological equipment required to be a good gemologist and appraiser.
